the fourteenth 100-yard game of Murray's career

With a 1-yard run in the fourth quarter, DeMarco Murray became the first runner in NFL history to open a season with seven consecutive 100-yard games.

Previously, Hall of Famer Jim Brown opened the 1958 season with six consecutive 100-yard games for the Cleveland Browns.

Murray came into Sunday's game against the New York Giants on track to more than 2,000 meters and 424 carries, which would be a record for a season.

However, given his injury history, the Cowboys have spoken to limit some of their workload. He missed 11 games in his first three seasons in the ankle, knee and foot injuries. He appeared to hurt his right ankle in a 21-yard gain late in the second quarter and did not appear in the final series of the first half Cowboys.

Murray leads the NFL in rushing, and trying to become the first cowboy to lead the league in rushing since Hall of Famer Emmitt Smith, who had 1,773 yards in 1995, Smith had 812 yards in the first seven games season.

Eagles' win over Giants

McCoy recaptured vintage 2013 form, making sharp cuts and slipping tacklers in tight spaces while averaging roughly 7.0 yards per carry. By the start of the fourth quarter, McCoy had 144 yards from scrimmage compared to 136 for the entire Giants offense. There's nothing wrong with his game.

Whatever fight was left in the Giants, down 20-0 in the third quarter, seemed to fade when Victor Cruz went down with a torn patellar tendon while attempting to catch a fourth-down touchdown pass. Cruz immediately realized that his season was over and broke down in tears on the golf cart to the locker room. With backup slot receiver Jerrel Jernigan also done for the season, Preston Parker is likely to take over in the slot, with Odell Beckham and Rueben Randle on the outside.

Darren Sproles was forced from the game late in the third quarter with a knee injury of his own. Per sideline reporter Michele Tafoya, Sproles was unhappy with the results when the Eagles' staff tested the stability of his left knee. He walked to the locker room, never to return.

Despite a pair of interceptions that extended his NFL turnover lead, Nick Foles clearly outplayed the opposing quarterback for the first time this season. He can thank his beleaguered offensive line for taking only one hit all night.

Whereas the Eagles' blocking was significantly improved, the Giants' offensive line lost the battle in the trenches. Connor Barwin and Vinny Curry combined for five sacks, as right tackle Justin Pugh had a particularly rough evening. By the second half, Eli Manning's footwork was noticeably affected by the pressure.

Riding a three-game winning streak with rookie Odell Beckham giving the offense a lift and Jason Pierre-Paul leading a frisky defense, the Giants entered the game with reason to believe they were rounding into the NFC East's best team. After the Cowboys' upset victory in Seattle and the Giants' blowout defeat in Philadelphia, they now have the look of an outfit that will hover around the .500 mark all season. The loss of Manning's favorite receiver could be a difference-maker.

Georgia Todd Gurley suspended indefinitely

Georgia running back Todd Gurley suspended from competition indefinitely, according to a press release from UGA.

The decision stems from an ongoing investigation into an alleged violation of NCAA rules, UGA said.

"Obviously I'm very disappointed," coach Mark Richt UGA. "The important thing for our team is to turn our attention to the preparation of Missouri."

Georgia plays at Missouri on Saturday at noon.

In five games this season, Gurley, regarded by many as one of the top contenders for the Heisman Trophy, gained 773 yards on 94 carries, averaging 8.2 yards per carry and has eight rushing touchdowns.

Gurley is third best receiver for the Bulldogs with 11 catches, and last week against Vanderbilt completed a 50-yard pass.
